Academic Support

Earl Warren is pleased to offer a variety of services that address academic, social and emotional issues in order to help students reach their full potential.  The following list outlines a number of programs designed to assist EWMS students and encourage optimal academic achievement and middle school success.  Most programs are open to ALL students on a drop-in basis.  Programs marked with an asterisk are by invitation due to specific academic intervention needs and space limitations.  Additionally, please note that most teachers are available to provide extra assistance on an appointment basis.  The best way to contact your student’s teacher is via e-mail.

 

Seahawk Homeroom
Each student is scheduled into a section of Seahawk Homeroom which meets daily for 30 minutes and allows time to begin homework.
 
After-School Help
After-School Help provides individual or small group tutoring with a teacher twice a week after school.  Students may choose to work on any assignments and are encouraged to attend if they need extra help with work.
 

Math Lab

Meets during homeroom for 30 minutes and supports students who need extra help with only math.  Students are nominated by their math teacher. During math lab a student works with a math teacher and peer tutors. 

 
Restorative Practice
Restorative practices are utilized by the teachers, counselor and administration to assist students to address emotional or social issues, as well as to learn from behavioral challenges. This method helps students to work through their problems and learn to communicate openly and effectively in a safe environment.
