The purpose of Cartooning/Animation is to develop the skills of a cartoonist and animator. Students are expected to work toward a mastery of cartooning and animation techniques. This course explores the fundamental basics of drawing cartoons, along with projects that have students making their own comic strips and mini-comics. The second half of the course focuses on animation that uses old school techniques mixed with computer methods. The course has been designed to be taken more than once because pupils are exposed to a new curriculum year to year and are therefore expected to derive educational value from taking the course again. Students who take this course a second year will learn more advanced animation techniques building off of their prior skills allowing them to create more complex works of animation.
