Art Exploration
General Studio Art is a year-long guided art class designed to expose students to a variety of two and three-dimensional art media in a project-based studio setting. Utilizing elements of art and principles of design, students will develop visual literacy skills to apply to art while gaining a historical understanding and appreciation of the art media involved. Two-dimensional art includes drawing, painting (tempera and watercolor), collage, design, and more. Three-dimensional art includes paper mache, mosaic, soft sculpture, stop motion Claymation, ceramics, and more. This course provides foundational skills for future art classes at the high school and college level. Students will maintain a portfolio throughout the year, and their artwork will be featured in Earl Warren’s bi-annual arts festivals. Selected student work will be submitted to the San Diego County Fair. Feed your creativity in Studio Art!
