The Earl Warren Middle School Music Program is a one-year course open to all wind, brass, and percussion learners regardless of prior musical training. The goals are to provide an opportunity for learners to develop their skills, understand the fundamentals and context of their instrument, and promote the discipline of musicianship and personal growth. Students will also learn the importance of team to accomplish the shared goals of the ensemble. Participating requires a large time commitment both during and outside of school; there are evening concerts throughout the school year with required attendance. Regular practice at home is also expected. Providing your own instrument to participate is necessary, however, our program does own a few instruments that may be available for learner use (please ask before school starts to secure an instrument as inventory is limited). If you are interested in taking Spanish or another elective class, you may take this course AND another elective IF you choose to replace PE with Music. The music program could not be successful without the support of our parent group called the Music Boosters. This group, similar to a PTSA, helps raise money and find volunteer guardians to support our music program.
